Everton (0) 2 - 0 (0) Arsenal
Goodison Park, Saturday 18th November 2000
FA Carling Premiership
Another diappointing performance from Arsenal, who
missed the many absentee Gunners more than Everton
missed their legion of injured players.
Both goals came in the second half, with some Arsenal
players tiring noticeably and Everton taking control of the game. Cadamarteri got the first on 54
minutes,
taking a deep Naysmith cross and turning Cole before
firing past Manninger.
And it was Cadamerteri's cross which set Campbell up for a
relatively easy second with 15 minutes to go and the home
win already looking ever more certain.
Arsenal were better and had a few chances in the first half, Ljungberg having a
shot deflected onto the bar and then cleared off the line,
immediately after shots from Wiltord and Kanu had been blocked.
Gerrard had to save at Bergkamp's feet too, but it was Everton who almost took the lead in the first minute.
Man United's narrow derby win at Maine Rd sees them extend the lead to 5 points at the top of the table.
Still November, I guess.
Full reports to follow.
