The injury which forced Sol Campbell out of the England game last night has been revealed to be a twisted ankle or knee (depending on where you look).
Campbell has virtually ruled himself out of Saturday's Premiership match at Highbury, and could be out for long
enough that he misses the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday week as well.
Better news for Tottenham is that Tim Sherwood is making good progress and could be fit for the Cup game, although he too is virtually certain to miss Saturday's match.
Ashley Cole's injury at the death last night came from a
missile thrown from the crowd (a bottle or lipstick case, depending again on where you look), which hit him on the
head leaving a slight cut above one eye.
He says it's not a serious injury, although it must have given him a bit of a jolt at the time. England will surely make
a complaint about the abuse Cole and the other black players suffered during the game (and those in the U21 match the night before as well). But the missile may not have been racially motivated, apparently it was one of a shower of missiles aimed at
a group of England players celebrating Andy Cole's last gasp England goal.
Sergei Rebrov is also out of Saturday's game, having been
injured playing for the Ukraine. See match preview for
the rest of their (many) absentees.
