West Ham 1 (1) Kanouté 36
Arsenal 1 (1) Cole 38
Premiership, Upton Park, attendance c. 34.000
An Ashley Cole equaliser spared Arsenal's blushes against a spirited West Ham side. Arsenal's lineup included Thierry Henry, Sylvain Wiltord AND Dennis Bergkamp, but a defender was needed to poach the goal we needed to draw level in the first half. A Lauren cross was flicked on by Henry to Cole, who showed very decent skill when meeting the ball with his favoured left peg on the back post. Arsenal should arguably have won after several second half chances, notably Bergkamp and Gilles Grimandi hitting the woodwork. West Ham, however, had a decent case for a penalty turned down after the ball hit Patrick Vieira's hands in the Arsenal area.
