Arsenal's game at Filbert Street this evening (due to kick-off at 5.30) has been cancelled because of the weather. The pitch
was, apparently, just about ok when inspected at 2pm. But the ref
decided that it was sure to freeze over before the game was due to finish.
A new date has not yet been fixed. Tickets will of course be valid,
and we guess that it'll be on pay-per-view, seeing as some
of us have paid for it already, and seeing as it's telly's fault the game got called off. If it weren't for them, the game would have been due to start at 3, and would have gone ahead.
See official leicester site for quotes and picture of snow.
One bad effect of this is that Ray Parlour was due to miss the game through suspension. He will now miss the match at home to Liverpool on 13th January instead.
The good news is that lots of games did go ahead this afternoon, and
the results did us no harm. Liverpool could only draw at home
to Bolton, so they missed the chance to go top and no longer have a game in hand.
Just to re-enforce the point that Arsenal aren't the only team
dropping points strangely at home this season, Chelsea lost the lead at home to Southampton, the game finishing 4-2 to the Saints.
