Leicester City (0) 1 - 3 (2) Arsenal
Filbert St, Wednesday 23rd January 2002
FA Barclaycard Premiership
The weather didn't stop the game this time, but Arsenal
did their freezing trick again.
2-0 up and cruising at half-time, the writing on the wall
came up when Frank Sinclair had to go off after half time
reducing Leicester to 10 men because they'd just brought on all 3 subs. How would Arsenal cope with such dominance?
As seems to happen so often, they let the other side back into it. A Muzzy Izzet goal on 68 (a header from a corner after he got between marker Ray Parlour and Martin Keown) put the pressure back on us, and Leicester had a good spell after that.
But sub Sylvain Wiltord scored a peach in the last minute to make it safe.
Our opener, on 32 minutes, was Gio van Bronckhorst's first for the club. We'd been waiting and hoping for one of his long-range left-foot efforts, but the manner was no less special for Arsenal fans: a close range finish from an Oleg Luzhny cross.
A good cross and a midfielder in the box (Ray was even there too!).
Henry got the second just before half time, pouncing on a loose ball after the Foxes failed to clear.
Arsenal:
Wright; Oleg Keown Sol Cole;
Ray (Grimandi 79) Paddy Gio (Upson 90) Bob;
Henry Bergkamp (Wiltord 79)

The win takes us second in the table, 1 point behind Man Utd but with a game in hand.
