Everton are short of strikers before the Premier League opening against Arsenal at Highbury. Former North London hero Kevin Campbell limped off only 10 minutes into Sunday's friendly against Bologna. The Goodison outfit have Duncan Ferguson suspended, while Mickey, sorry Wayne Rooney is doubtful with an ankle injury. Latest: Everton are trying to bring in former Lens forward Tony Vareilles to solve the problem, the Mirror reports. The Frenchman, capped 8 times, is a free agent. Gooners know him from the UEFA Champions League, when a tussle with Lee Dixon once got the Arsenal defender sent off. Youngster Nick Chadwick could be handed his Premiership debut if a deal falls through, the Independent reports.
