For the trip to Manchester City (live on sky at 4.05) Arsenal have Sol Campbell suspended (this is his 1 match ban for the sending off against Everton, the Community Shield thing still hasn't been sorted out). Martin Keown will step in alongside Kolo Toure but there are no new injuries so otherwise the team will probably be unchanged. Looks like the super-sub roles could be semi-permanent for Bergkamp and Parlour this season. Jeffers is still banned.
City's new signings Steve McManamanan and Claudio Reyna won't feature, not having signed in time. But Robbie Fowler is expected to have recovered from a rib injury sustained during the Pompey match and should partner Nic Anelka up front. Both strikers missed the UEFA cup win in midweek, and their availability is good news to Keegan as Paolo Wanchope is away in Costa Rica following a family bereavement and Jonathan Macken is out injured..
Eyal Berkovic might only be on the bench, with Antoine Sibierski or Joey Barton alongisde Paul Bosvelt in midfield instead.
The most interesting feature of the game for Arsenal fans will be having to get the ball past David Seaman, and maybe the odd playful rendition of "Nayim from the halfway line" :-) |
