According to Arsenal.com, Arsene Wenger has not decided yet who will partner Kolo Toure in defence at Anfield. Sol Campbell is back in contention following his compassionate leave, but obviously lacks match fitness. It is a great testament to the form of Kolo Toure that his place does not appear to be in question. Great but unsurprising to those of us who have seen him play. Keown is in great form also, so Campbell may have to wait (which may in turn mean he'll not make the England team to face Turkey next weekend).
The other main players who missed the trip to Moscow on Tuesday are all still out: Vieira (knee), Freddie (thigh), and Bergkamp (calf). But Keown and Cole who both played on Tuesday despite slight injuries, are ok for the Liverpool game.
Liverpool have a few injury problems too. Danny Murphy injured an ankle in midweek and will be out for a month or so. Kirkland, Hamann, Carragher, Baros, and Cheyrou were all already out.
But Smicer and Patrice Luzi (who he?) are expected to be have recovered from knee and hip problems respectively. Stephane Henchoz is also in line for a recall in place of Igor Biscan, having recovered from an ankle injury.

Thanks to the official
Liverpool site for using last night's hastily-written responses to their questions for a "Gooner's view of LFC" preview feature. It's good to see an official site using fan-sites in this way. It's hard to imagine Arsenal letting the guys that do Arsenal.com do the same thing (although whether the LFC site is allowed to use their own fans views in this way as well is open to question). With regard to their appararent confusion regarding my sex ("we ... ask her to give him views ..."), I'd just like to make it clear that I haven't actually met the guy that put the page together. |
