As reported the other day, Kanu has persuaded the Nigerian FA to let him stay and play at Villa tomorrow. So, with Wiltord Bergkamp and Aliadiere all injured Kanu will be starting alongside Henry, and we probably won't have any other striing options on the bench. Expect Freddie and/or Pires to be used up front if necessary.
Elsewhere the news is better> At the back Kolo Toure is able to return from his foot injury and Ashley Cole expected to be available despite having had a scan of a shoulder problem this week. And in midfield everyone's available. It'll be interesting to see if Parlour is used again as he has been in some other away games recently.
Villa are to give late fitness tests to McCann (knee tweak) and Vassell (tight hamstering) both of whom had to come off in the last game against Liverpool. Crouch is probably injured. It's a tricky tie. Villa are on a run of form (7 wins out of their last 11, 5 out of last 6, 3rd in current form table with Arsenal 1 place higher). Although we won 2-0 at Highbury earlier in the season, Villa gave us a good game thanks largely to O'Leary's tactics (which went on to be used to good effect by the likes of Portsmouth). But given their good recent form and the fact that they're at home, the Villa fans may expect more adventurous tactics tomorrow, and that may work in our favour.
