Sylvain Wiltord is fit and ready to play a part in the premiership run-in. Whether or not he plays a part today is open to question, since Henry is now reported to be fit after all. But despite the arrival of Reyes and the fact that Wiltord seems to be on his way out on a Bosman, having not signed a new contract, Wiltord may well figure sooner rather than later, because Henry has looked a bit tired at times recently. Although Aliadiere had forced his way into the reckoning before they both got injured, he looked pretty lightweight against Man Utd. You'd probably expect Wiltord's experience to help him return to form after injury a bit quicker.
The situation with Henry is that a suspected hamstring injury has turned out to be a back problem. He's been having intensive massage treatment in a effort to get ready for Sunday, and possibly for today. Ljungberg is also struggling to be fit for the games, having played Chelsea with painkilling injections and a light cast on his broken hand. Apparently cheks have revealed no bad reaction to that.
Gerard Houllier says he's expecting a backlash after our cup disappiintments. He has also said that Arsenal can afford to lose but Liverpool can't. You can see his point, since we'd still have the league in our own hands but they'd probably not have 4th place in theirs. But it doesn't feel like we can afford to lose, does it...? |
