Arsenal are to be presented with a special version of the Premiership trophy, to mark the achievement of going through the season unbeaten.
The trophy proper was presented after the Leicester game on Saturday, but we're to get a one-off replica made with the gold and silver parts reversed. Apparently the possibility of marking the achievement in some way like this had been under consideration for some time, but the Premier League considered quite rightly that it would be wrong to come to any specific decision until the deed had been done.
Thank heavens for that! It was bad enough with the media trying to jinx us by talking as if it had already been done. If the league had started announcing special trophy preparations before Saturday you can be sure we'd have lost.
As it is, we'll probably be presented with it before the first game of next season, which'll ensure that we lose that one. Which would be a shame since we only need 3 more to set a new top-flight record of consecutive unbeaten games (see records page).
