Teams for Arsenal trip to Pompey by Rupe
on 18/12/04 at 12:05
this is story 505 of 603 in this topic to date
As reported yesterday, Freddie and Edu are nearly ready to return, but not for the trip to Portsmouth tomorrow.

Vieira returns from his 2 one-match bans, probably at the expense of Flamini. But Cesc has played an awful lot for a kid recently (Wenger having said earlier in the season that he didn't want to burn him out) so it wouldn't be an enormous surprise if Flamini was retained instead.

Ashley Cole is a slight doubt, which will probably be enough for Clichy to get a game. Gilberto, Cygan, and Pennant are all injured.

Pompey may have lost their boss (and are reportedly holding out for Strachan) but their recent form (since Redknapp left) is better than ours (2 wins and 2 draws from the last 4). It's an interesting situation. The fans disappointment with Milan Mandaric after Harry left has turned in the former's favour, what with this run of results combined with the fact that Redknapp is now seen as something of a traitor.

Dejan Stefanovic, who fouled Robert Pires for the penalty when we drew with them at Highbury last year (well, according to the ref anyway) is out injured. Linvoy Primus will probably play at centre back with Andy Griffin coming in at right back. Yakubu may return to the side having been out for a while with an injured knee, but given the form he'll probably be used as a sub. Lua Lua, who scored the equaliser against Liverpool this week, is probably the man to watch out for. Foxe, Todorov, Pericard, Kamara, Unsworth and Quashie are all out.
