The trip to Ewood Park at lunchtime gives Arsenal the chance to reclaim 2nd place. But probably only for a few hours as Man Utd are at home to Fulham at 3. So really the pressure's on us: a slip-up and United could pull away again. Ewood Park is rarely an easy place to go for us. On average this season they've actually done better in their away games, but if you look at the recent form, they're actually looking for their 4th home win in a row. Their goalscoring record is pretty dismal at less than a goal per game. They'll be looking to put the wind up Arsenal in particular, though, with the FA Cup semi between these 2 clubs coming up.
Up front we'll be missing both Henry and Bergkamp with calf injuries. Edu and Pires are missing from the midfield with hamstring and flu respectively, and Campbell is still missing with his ankle.
In defence Cygan has recovered from his thigh problem, but I'm hoping that the Toure-Senderos partnership which has done well in recent games gets another chance. Ashley Cole looks likely to return to the squad having missed the Bolton game with a late minor injury. Arsene Wenger has said that he thinks Cole did feel unsettled by the Chelsea tapping talk, but that he's over that now that he's done his bit giving evidence to the inquiry.
Freddie has had flu but is thought to have recovered sufficiently to play, with presumably Vieira and either Flamini or Cesc. Reyes is likely to be used up front with Thierry and Dennis out, so perhaps the position on the left of midfield will be filled using the Cole/Clichy combination.
Up front it could be Robin Van Persie alongside Reyes. But you never know, Quincy might get another game, or even Jeremie Aliadiere who impressed so in the reserve game against Chelsea on Monday.
Another player who did ok in that Chelsea game was Gilberto. But he only played 60 minutes so perhaps this'll be too soon for him. Could be on the bench though.
Rovers managed a goalless draw at Anfield in midweek, but without their top scorer (wuth 10) and former Gunner Paul Dickov who was rested following a groin strain. He returns to the side to face Arsenal. But Robbie Savage is likely to miss the game with a groin strain, and David Thompson is also a doubt with a knee problem.
