Boro can't be feeling too confident about this one. Wenger's Arsenal tend to score a hatful against McLaren's side. We scored 4 last season on 3 occasions, and the home fixture earlier in the year ended up 5-3.
Arsenal's second top scorer Freddie Ljungberg will be missing after pulling out of training with a hip problem. He joins Flamini, Hoyte, and Edu on the injury list.
But Patrick Vieira returns from injury, presumably to reinstate his midfield partnership with Gilberto. So Cesc will be free to play on the right of midfield with Pires or Reyes (or Cole or Clichy!) on the left.
Up front, Bergkamp has returned to fitness and will probably partner Henry (although Reyes and van Persie will also be in contention).
The defensive choice will be interesting. Senderos is back to fitness, but so is Sol. Campbell played his first game for 2 months, for the reserves, on Monday night, and will be keen to prove his fitness ahead of the FA Cup semi final next weekend. Wenger has said that he's not sure if Sol is fully fit yet, and the player has a history of suffering injury recurrences through returning too quickly. I've got a feeling that, seeing as Senderos is available, Wenger will err on the side of caution.
The home side will be without Zenden (ankle), Viduka (hamstring & back problems) and Job (knee). Viduka returned to the side to face
Palace in Boro's win last Saturday, after being out since Boxing Day, but hobbled off injured again soon after the start. In addition Ehiogu, Mendieta, and Malcolm Christie are long-term absentees.
But Ray Parlour and George Boateng both returned to action against Palace, and their ability to prevent Arsenal owning the midfield could be the key to Boro's chances.
