Injuries limit options for Arsenal and Everton by Rupe

this is story 611 of 621 in this topic to date
Arsenal host Everton this afternoon without Emmanuel Adebayor (thigh), Emmanuel Eboue (knee), Lauren (knee), Abou Diaby (ankle), Julio Baptista (hamstring) and Freddie Ljungberg (calf). This probably makes team selection fairly straightforward, with Justin Hoyte, Kolo Toure, Johan Djourou, William Gallas across the back. According to the official site, Phillipe_Senderos is in the squad along with Matthieu Flamini and Jeremie Aliadiere all of whom did well in the League cup win over West Brom this week, but Gael Clichy who made his comeback in that game is being rested.

All 3 will probably be on the bench with the obvious front 6 to start of Thierry Henry, Robin van Persie, Tomas Rosicky, Alexander Hleb, Gilberto and Cesc Fabregas. But there could be a place for Theo Walcott to get another start.

Everton have had a run of only one win in 5 league games, but have only lost once all season and will be buoyed by 2 wins in a row (if only over Sheffield United and Luton in the League Cup). On paper this looks our toughest Premiership test at the new stadium so far. They have injuries to Richard Wright, Alessandro Pistone, Andy van der Meyde (ankle), Davies (ankle), Weir (concussion), Naysmith and Hibbert, and doubts over Nuno Valente (groin), Yobo (groin) and Phil Neville (hamstring). Some say Arteta is also a doubt. Keeper Tim Howard has recovered from a virus.

If the doubts turn out to be absences then the lack of defensive options could see Alan Stubbs returning. Youngsters Mark Hughes and Patrick Boyle may be needed.

Arsenal's return to form since the dodgy start to the season has seen us notch up 5 league wins in a row - the best run of the season by any team.
