An international weekend always have the same effect: rumours emerge that manager Arsène Wenger will leave Arsenal in the summer, or in a year, or if he gets another offer, or if he is handed an international coaching post. This last weekend was no exception. Aided by comments by former Arsenal winger Marc Overmars, the rumour concerning Wenger and Barcelona resurfaced. Overmars claimed to have insight in how his former manager thought... but it has agin been hotly denied by Wenger. Several media quote him today: he points to the fact that his contract with Arsenal lasts to the end of the 2002/03 season, and that he has never broken a contract in his life. It is also pointed out by the more serious sources that Wenger took over Arsenal several months after he was offered the manager post in the first place - because he didn\t want to break his contract with Nagoya Grampus Eight. |
