We couldn't help but chuckle when we saw coverage in this week's Press Gazette of the biggest football transfer of recent weeks: the move of writer Harry Harris from the Mirror to the Express.
Harris told the media trade magazine that his parting with Mirror editor Piers Morgan - an Arseweb reader, lest ye forget - was very amicable. 'He sees me as Patrick Vieira being lured away by the evil forces of money,' said Double H, 'and he would be Arsene Wenger, coolly persuading me to stay.'
But quoted on the Media Guardian website, Our Mate Piers says it's 'the journalistic equivalent of Patrick Vieira moving from Arsenal to Darlington'. (Don't let the Sports boys hear you say that Piers... they'll only print it as a transfer rumour.)
Reports suggest that Morgan wants Harris to honour the 15-month notice period specified (apparently) in his contract. So expect the story to run and run. |
