Many thanks to our old friend Gio, who sometimes organises planes to away matches and is now working on the Ronnie Biggs website, for sending us some of the "Great Train Robber's"
Arsenal memories.
Ronnie is old and frail and none-too-chatty these days (following several strokes),
but still happy to talk about the Gunners, albeit with
the aid of a spelling board.
Check out our new Ronnie Biggs page for those memories, a picture of Ronnie in
his Arsenal shirt, and a link to the Free Ronnie Biggs Campaign website.
It's worth a read. To be honest, I hadn't expected
to end up plugging the site when they first contacted ArseWeb,
but it turns out that most of what I'd believed about Ronnie
is untrue.
And whatever you believe about crime and punishment, the fact
remains that Ronnie is ill, is no harm to anyone, and just wants to be able to do stuff like having a pint and watching the Arsenal before the big whistle is blown. Biggs was a minor player in a robbery. These days rapists can expect to receive sentences only a fraction of that which he received.
Please do have a look, all that's being asked is that the case should be looked at.
