 Reserves beat Seagulls by Rupe

As previewed earlier, Arsenal played a behind-closed-doors game this afternoon. Turns out it was against Brighton and Hove Albion, and played at the Arsenal training ground.

Sol Campbell played the whole game, and Robin van Persie the first 72 minutes. There are no reports so far of any kind of mishap or injury recurrences, so as things stand the news is very good.

There were a few other first-teamers in action, with Theo Walcott playing the whole game and 80 minutes for Dennis Bergkamp, as well as Johan Djourou, Alexandre Song, and Sebastian Larsson. Ryan_Smith, recently returnd from a loan spell at Leicester City, also played most of the first half.

Dennis scored the only goal of the game, a close-range header from a superb cross by Walcott. Van Persie looked pretty sharp, and should have scored at least one. Walcott also looked good, popping up in a variety of forward positions and scoring a 25 yarder that was ruled out for offside in the build-up.

As promised, there's a match report on the official site.

Incidentally, Brighton's best chance fell to teenage striker Joe Gatting (son of Steve, the former Arsenal and Brighton player - thanks to the many readers who quickly pointed this out in the Arsenal.com report, don't know how I missed it!).

Meanwhile, Freddie Ljungberg's tests today revealed no break, but he is expected to miss the game against Charlton at the weekend.
