It's being reported that Dennis Bergkamp is set to
travel to Arsenal's 2 crucial remaining away fixtures in
the second group stage of the Champions League. See eg Soccernet.
Being in Lyon and Munich, on 13th Feb and 14th March respectively, Dennis will be able to get to the games
by car.
But what about recent signings Edu, Stepanovs, and
Tomas?
As we reported in depth at the end of November,
UEFA say their rules allow the new registration of players
on the 1st Feb. Arsenal had the option to include any new signings in their list of 25 registered players. Although this
would probably require the de-registration of others, the fact
that they've all been used domestically of late suggests that it would be a smart move.
So, anyone know if Arsenal have made the changes? The official list, on the UEFA website, hasn't changed. But knowing how infrequently some
parts of some websites get updated (ahem), that's no guarantee of anything.
We've asked Arsenal, and are waiting hopefully for their reply.
Postscript
Please would people stop emailing me to tell me that Stepanovs
is ineligible because he played for Skonto Riga in the qualifying
stages. Instead, follow the link above to our coverage in November. Like I said, we covered this topic in depth some time ago. If you've got something new to say we would of course be delighted to hear from you. :-)
