Arsenal are in France tonight for the biggest game of the
season so far. We really need to win this one to set up
the next, and bigger, biggest game of the season. A draw
would leave us with a chance mathematically, but with a
huge mountain to climb against Spartak and Bayern.
As has been widely reported (and exaggerated),
Dennis Bergkamp has been told to stay at home
and make sure he's raring to go for the Chelsea FA Cup tie on Sunday. Henry looked sharp enough when he came on
as a sub against Ipswich, and will presumably start alongside
Kanu. Wiltord has been looking better and better though.
One starts to see why he was compared to Wrighty, with his
buzzing about the box. He just needs to start scoring like
Wright. He'll probably get to play tonight too.
Arsenal's only real problem is at centreback, where
Keown is injured and Stepanovs isn't
registered. If Edu was fit we might have seen him
partner Vieira, with Grimandi alongside
Adams. But our understanding is that Edu isn't
available. Still, Parlour's been doing ok in central midfield so Gilles will probably still switch to defence.
The alternative is Luzhny as Tone's number 2, but the Ukrainian hasn't played for a while.
Lyon's only doubt is said to be defender Serge Blanc.
