Arsenal 1-0 Spartak Moscow
Henry
Arsenal come away with 3 points from a game which could have very easily gone horribly wrong. But the bad news is... Lyon thumped Bayern Munich.
Bayern stay top of the group on 10 points; Arsenal are second, with 8; and Lyon lie third with 7. It means that going into the final round of matches, only Spartak are out of it. So that means...
- If Arsenal beat Bayern in Munich, we're definitely through - as group winners! Bayern's progress would depend on what Lyon get in Moscow: as the French won 'on aggregate' across the two head-to-head games, they go through if the two are level on points.
- If Arsenal draw in Munich, we go through as long as Lyon don't beat Spartak. Bayern would be safe.
- And even if we lose in Munich, we would still go through if Spartak - playing for nothing more than home pride, admittedly - can get a draw against the French side. We'd be level on points with Lyon, but go through on the head-to-head results.
It all adds up to a nightmare night next Wednesday. Grow your fingernails if you can... you might end up biting your fingers to the bone otherwise.
