Not a lot of new team news to report. For the Gunners,
Silvinho's calf injury will keep him out,
but Cole would probably have started anyway. Some reports say Edu is also injured, but he was an even less likely starter. Whatever the reasons, both Brasilians are said to have stayed in London. Apart from that, Bergkamp (achilles) is the only absence. Kanu is
available, he flies to Africa to join the Nigeria squad
after the game.
Kily Gonzales is out, as previously reported, but now it looks likely that his probable replacement Vicente is also out. He picked up an injury in their league match at the weekend.
Like Arsenal's, that match was an unexpected home loss. So it
can be done. And although their win record at home
in Europe is excellent, Valencia haven't been scoring all that
many goals in the Champs League (an average of 1 per match).
Their fronbt line of Carew and Sanchez out to find it hard to break down Arsenal's defence especially without the service of Kily. So long as we don't score at the wrong end ourselves.
6 Arsenal players are a booking away from a suspension, see
match preview page
for details of that, and more.
