Our next opponents in Europe, Deportivo La Coruņa,
are reported to be in some apparently serious financial trouble.
The main problem is 600 million pesetas (+interest) owed to Andorran company "Tecno Star". This company sold Deportivo the image rights to Djalminha and a couple of other players Lionel Scaloni and his brother Marco.
A court in La Coruņa has seized certain assest from the club, including the land where Deportivo plan to build their new
sporting complex, their head office, money in the bank, and future income from transfers and ticket sales.
We're not convinced that this will affect their performances
against us. The finances of Spanish clubs are notoriously
shady, and while it's possible that they'll have to sell
players it's just as likely that they'll somehow sign some
multi-million players despite being massively in debt.
Many thanks to Julio for sending us the news. Spanish readers
are referred to Marca's report.
