Against expectations, Thierry Henry has travelled to Spain
as part of the squad
for Wednesday's CL 2nd stage opener against Deportivo
La Coruņa.
Without him, and with Bergkamp not travelling, Kanu and
Wiltord would have been the only striking options. Henry
missed the France trip to Oz, and the Arsenal trip to
the wrong end of the Seven Sisters Rd, with an ankle injury.
And previous reports had suggested he'd be out for
a couple more matches. The fact that our next match is against
Man Utd makes his return to the squad doubly pleasing.
Freddie Ljungberg, on the bench against Tottenham, is also
named in the squad and likely to start.
Matthew Upson also travels. He's been out with a hamstring injury. But with the partnership of Keown and Campbell
both looking much more solid at Tottenham, he's unlikely to
displace either of them.
The only Deportivo team news we have at the moment
concerns their left-winger and skipper Fran. He's been
having trouble with a leg muscle injury for a while,
and while he is said to have made a full recovery now,
he lacks fitness and may only make the bench.
