PSV Eindhoven are to appeal against UEFA's increased fine,
which is the punishment for the racist behaviour of their fans when Arsenal visited (and spanked them) a few weeks ago.
As you can see from the links to the right, PSV's response was to ban 3 fans but deny that there was a bigger problems. A UEFA committee then imposed a fine of 20,500 euros (about £13,000)
which was appealed against by UEFA themselves, saying it was too
low.
Last week the fine was increased to 34,000 euros (about £21500).
Now, UEFA report that PSV are to appeal. Their chairman
is quoted as saying that they want the question of how much
they could have done to prevent the problem discussed. The appeal is to be filed with Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne.
