Arsenal (0) 1 - 0 (0) Dynamo Kiev
Highbury, Wednesday 5th November 2003
UEFA Champs League group stage match 4
Arsenal's hopes are slim but alive, thanks to Ashley Cole's
very very late winner at Highbury.
It was end-to-end stuff with Arsenal having most of the chances but Dynamo looking dangerous too. I think it's fair to say that after a match of many chances, a few great saves and at least one very fortunate one (when the Dynamo keeper came out for a cross but Freddie turned it goalwards before it got to him, only to see it blocked by the keeper's trailing foot), most of us were pretty much resigned to another early CL exit.
But Wiltord's cross from the left with 90 seconds of normal time remaining, glanced on by either Henry or a defender's head (hard to say), and slammed home by a classic diving header by Cole, means that we have something to play for in the last match at home to Lokomotiv. Even if we lose to Inter, 3rd place and a shot at the UEFA Cup is still a possibility.
