Despite recovering from injury and scoring a brace in the
reserve win over Derby on Monday, Jeremie Aliadiere has not been selected for tonight's squad. With Reyes havign arrived since he
was sidelined, the young Frenchman may have to start his fight for a first team spot all over again.
Parlour and Wiltord are also both still out, with knee and ankle injuries respectively. Philippe Senderos may be back next month, but not yet.
So the team almost picks itself, especially with Bergkamp unusually able to travel. Perhaps the big question is whether or not Gilberto or Freddie will start on the right of midfield. The Brasilian seemed to find it hard not to drift infield all the time against Bolton, leaving us short on that side of the pitch.
I suspect that Freddie was only put on the bench on Saturday in order to ensure his availability tonight. But it's not impossible that Gilberto will retain his place at Edu's expense.
Chelsea will be without Carlo Cudicini. While Ambrosio has only conceded 1 goal in 2 matches, he's no Cudicini. The down-side to
Chelsea's team news is the return of Damien Duff.
Hasselbaink is out with a hamstring problem, so Mutu and Crespo
will probably start, although Gudjohnsen arguably looks their most dangerous striker at the moment. |
