Vieira coming home for quarter-final by Rupe
on 10/3/06 at 13:05
this is story 346 of 365 in this topic to date
After the usual long and boring draw ceremony, made a bit longer by the female presenter fainting on meeting Steven Gerrard, here is the draw for the quarter-finals of the Champs League, made possible by Arsenal's historic goal-less win over Real.

Arsenal vs Juventus
Internazionale
or Ajax vs Villareal

Olympique Lyonnais vs Milan
Benfica vs Barcelona
Matches to be played on...
First leg : 28th/29th March
Second leg : 4th/5th April
(The Inter-Ajax tie concludes next Tuesday, delayed because Inter and Milan couldn't play at home the same week as they share a stadium).

First named teams above will play their home legs first. Our matches will be at home on Tuesday 28th and away on Wednesday 5th.

The draw for the semi-finals has also been made, with the winners of the paired quarter-finals above meeting each other on 18th/19th April and then again the following week. In each pair, the winners of the first quarter-final will be at home in the first leg (so we would have to travel for the second leg in the semi as well as the quarter, if we get through). Our semi dates would be Wednesday 19th and Tuesday 25th April.

Arsenal have never played an Italian side in the knockout stages of the Champs League. Our total record against Juve is P4 W2 D1 L1 GF5 GA3, that's the Cup-Winners Cup in 1980, and the second group stage of the Champs League in 2002.
